Townsville Civic Orchestra Archive
Following the successful development of an ensemble developed for the production of My Fair Lady in January 1980, the Townsville Civic Orchestra (TCO) was formed at a public meeting in March. It began under the direction of Tim O'Connor, formerly leader of the Melbourne Conservatorium Orchestra, and leader Donna McMahon, formerly leader of the Queensland Youth Orchestra. The TCO, which aimed to benefit amateur adult musicians in Townsville, produced a variety of musical activities, including concerts, was involved with the Townsville Pacific Festival, and collaborated with the Townsville Choral & Orchestral Society (TCOS).
