Grant Family diaries

Members of the Grant family have lived in the Innot Springs - Mt Garnett area of north Queensland since the late 1880s. This collection consists of 74 diaries written over the period 1888-1962.

For the period 1894-1899 there are diaries written by J.H. Grant who, with his brothers F.S. and E.N. Grant, was lessee of Woodleigh Station.

The diaries of Franklin Stanhope Grant (b. 1860, d 1926) cover the period 1889-1926 and are the most detailed in the collection. They cover not only periods at Woodleigh Station and Valley of Lagoons but also periods at Cue on the Murchison goldfields and in Victoria and Tasmania.

Jessie R. Grant kept a diary during 1927 when she was managing Mandalee Station and again during 1929-1931, the latter recording her overseas travel.

The diaries of James Lionel Grant, 1928-1962 are not as detailed as earlier writings but cover a period of considerable change in the pastoral industry.
