Barambah Station

The records for Barambah in the Special Collections archive is in the form of a diary for the year 1878. It was donated to the Special Collections by Mr. J.J. Sullivan of Mt. Coolon Station. Barambah station was one of the earliest sheep and cattle grazing properties developed in south Queensland. Barambah Station is located in Murgon, a rural service centre on the Bunya Highway, and it was established in 1843 by Ferriter and Uhr following Henry Stuart Russell's exploration of the Burnett district in 1842. The Barambah site once comprised a complete homestead complex and today the timber residence built c. 1905-06 stands as testimony to the development of Barambah Station as one of the earliest principal pastoral holdings in the Burnett district.
