Senator Margaret Reynolds - Publications and Parliamentary speeches

Margaret Reynolds became a Queensland Labor Senator in 1983. Between 1988 and 1990 she was Minister Assisting the Prime Minister on the Status of Women.

Jilpia Nappaljari Jones AM
Marjory Baldwin-Jones

Jilpia Nappaljari Jones is a Walmadjari woman who was born in the Kimberleys of a traditional mother and a European father. She was removed from her mother at the age of five and was brought up in North Queensland.

She was a registered nurse and midwife who started her ophthalmic career with Professor Fred Hollows as part of the National Trachoma and Eye Health Program (NTEHP) during the 1970s and 1980s. It was during her work with Professor Hollows that Jilpia met her mother from whom she had been separated at an early age.

Jilpia is a Churchill Fellow furthering her ophthalmologic training at the prestigious Moorefield Eye Hospital in London.

In the 1990s Jilpia moved to Canberra and attained a BA at the Australian National University.

AWARDS
The Cairns Mulgrave Shire International Women's Day Award, 1993 in honour of her community service;

The Order of Australia Medal in the Queen's Birthday Honours, 1995 for establishing Aboriginal health resources in rural and remote communities particularly in the specialities of ophthalmology and obstetrics.

Quentin Bryce AC

Quentin Alice Louise Bryce AC (born 1942) is the current Governor of Queensland. She grew up in Ilfracombe, Queensland, and studied at Moreton Bay College, Brisbane, and later at the University of Queensland, where she was graduated with a bachelor of arts and laws. In 1965, she was one of the first Queensland women to be admitted to the bar of that state.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
1968 to 1983 : Taught in the Faculty of Law at the University of Queensland;
1984 : First director of the Queensland Women's Information Service in the Office of the Status of Women;
1987 : Queensland Director of the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission;
1988 to 1993: Federal Sex Discrimination Commissioner;
1993 to 1996 - Founding Chair and Chief Executive Officer of the National Childcare Accreditation Council;
1997 Principal and Chief Executive Officer of The Women's College within the University of Sydney;
2003 : Appointment as governor of Queensland.

She married Michael Bryce in 1964 and together they have two daughters, three sons, and five grandchildren.
