Cairns Watch house

A movement to improve the living conditions in the Cairns Watch-house was one of the first projects undertaken by the WEL Cairns group.

Background : Taken from the correspondence and the WEL Cairns Minutes.

Ruth Wallace mentioned the plight of a young aboriginal woman, Judy Palmer in the Cairns Watch House who had been charged with murder and Pat O'Hara visited her daily.
